Jammu, Dec 22: Jammu Airport witnessed steady growth in passenger traffic and flight operations during 2025, handling more than 13.5 lakh passengers and close to 11,000 flight movements till mid-December, reflecting sustained demand for air travel in the region. As per official data, the airport recorded a total of 10,972 flight movements between January 1 and December 15, 2025.

This included 5,486 arrivals and an equal number of departures during the period.Passenger movement remained consistent throughout the year, with 6,83,632 passengers arriving at the airport and 6,70,764 departing, indicating a balanced and steady flow of domestic travellers despite seasonal and weather-related challenges.

Cargo and mail operations at the airport also continued smoothly. Between January and November 2025, Jammu Airport handled 810.32 tonnes of incoming cargo and mail, while 247.86 tonnes were dispatched, highlighting the airport’s growing role as a logistical hub for the Jammu region.Airport Director Jammu, Davender Yadav, said that 2025 was marked by safe, efficient and passenger-friendly operations, despite occasional weather-related disruptions.

“Jammu Airport witnessed steady passenger movement and consistent flight operations throughout 2025. Despite operational challenges, including adverse weather conditions at times, coordinated efforts by all stakeholders ensured smooth and safe operations,” he said.

Yadav added that the ongoing construction of the new terminal building at Belicharana is progressing steadily and is expected to significantly enhance the airport’s capacity and infrastructure. “With the new terminal nearing completion, 2026 is expected to be a transformative year for Jammu Airport in terms of capacity expansion, improved connectivity and an enhanced passenger experience,” he said.

Officials said that the airport currently operates regular flights to key destinations including Srinagar, Leh, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, with plans underway to introduce additional routes in 2026 to further strengthen regional and national connectivity.

One of the major milestones of 2025, officials noted, has been the progress on the new terminal building at Belicharana, which is currently about 45 percent complete. Once operational, the terminal is expected to provide a significant infrastructural boost to the airport.

The upcoming terminal will have the capacity to handle 4.5 million passengers annually, with a peak-hour handling capacity of around 2,000 passengers.

Spread over an area of 56,693 square metres, the facility will include 13 aircraft parking stands, along with parking space for 250 four-wheelers and 200 two-wheelers.
