LA TADA court in Jammu on Tuesday rejected the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea seeking the remand of a Srinagar man in connection with the 1989 Rubaiya Sayeed kidnapping case.
According to reports, Shafat Ahmad Shungloo, son of Saif-ud-Din and a resident of Hawal currently living in Ishber Nishat was taken into custody by a CBI team from Police Station Nishat on Monday.
He was subsequently shifted to Jammu and produced before the designated TADA court, where the CBI sought his remand for further investigation.After hearing the submissions, the court declined to grant the remand request.
A detailed order is awaited, sources said.Earlier, the CBI stated that the accused had been declared an absconder and carried a reward of ₹10 lakh.
