Srinagar, May 26:In a major action against narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police on Monday attached immovable property worth nearly ₹1 crore belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Officials said the action was carried out as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at dismantling drug networks and curbing the menace of narcotics across the Union Territory.
According to police, the attached property is a residential house owned by Aamir Hassan Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, a resident of Bonpora Dupatyar area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district. The house has been constructed on land falling under Khasra No. 134 at Bonpora Dupatyar and is estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹1 crore.
Police said the attachment was executed under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 17/2026 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Shergari.
The proceedings were conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Bijbehara, after completion of all legal formalities. Authorities stated that the attached property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority.
Reiterating its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking, Srinagar Police said strict legal action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics smuggling and related criminal activities.
Police also urged the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information related to drug peddling or narcotics networks to help in building a drug-free society.
