Srinagar, Dec 20: Srinagar Police on Saturday attached a double-storey residential house measuring eight marlas at Wantpora Eidgah after investigations established that the property was acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.
The house, owned by Basit Bilal Dar, son of Bilal Ahmad Dar, a resident of Wantpora Eidgah, is valued at approximately Rs 1 crore.Police said the accused is involved in two narcotics-related cases, including FIR No. 59 of 2024 registered at Police Station Nowhatta under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act, and FIR No. 114 of 2025 registered at Police Station Safakadal under Sections 8, 22 and 29 of the Act.
Sustained investigation revealed that the attached property was generated from illicit earnings linked to the drug trade.The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in the presence of two independent witnesses, strictly following due legal procedure. Authorities said notices have been affixed on the property prohibiting any alteration, sale, lease, transfer or creation of third-party interest.
Police said the drive against narcotics networks and their illegally acquired assets is continuing across different parts of the city.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
