Massive Explosion Rocks Nowgam Police Station During Inspection

Casualties are feared after a massive late-night blast rocked Nowgam Police Station around 11:20 pm on Friday, sources said.The explosion happened while a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, police personnel, and the local Tehsildar were inspecting a large amount of ammonium nitrate that had been seized earlier in a case involving almost 2,900 kg of IED-making material.So far, police have arrested seven people in the case, including two doctors who were allegedly involved in funding, logistics, and arranging bomb-making supplies.Sources said the blast occurred during the sampling and inspection of the material, causing major damage inside the station and injuring several people. The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.Officials said it was not a terror attack, but an accidental explosion while handling sensitive material.Emergency teams rushed the injured to the hospital, and the area has been secured.
