Jammu, June 1: In one of the largest anti-narcotics offensives ever launched in Jammu and Kashmir, security and enforcement agencies have arrested 1,018 alleged drug peddlers, seized 341 kilograms of narcotics, and initiated action against drug-linked assets worth over ₹200 crore during the first 50 days of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
Official figures accessed by JKNS reveal that 923 FIRs were registered and 1,018 individuals arrested in connection with narcotics-related offences between April 11 and May 29, reflecting the scale of the intensified crackdown against drug trafficking and narco-terror networks.
Authorities recovered 341 kilograms of narcotic substances, including 12 kilograms of heroin valued at nearly ₹120 crore, besides seizing 23,752 units of psychotropic tablets and capsules during the period.
As part of preventive action under the PIT-NDPS Act, 55 habitual traffickers and peddlers were detained to disrupt recurring narcotics activities.
The financial arm of the anti-drug campaign also witnessed significant action. Authorities attached 89 immovable properties worth ₹63.93 crore and demolished 63 properties valued at ₹19.77 crore. Officials said the drive has targeted drug-linked assets worth more than ₹200 crore, striking at the economic foundations of narcotics networks.
Regulatory enforcement was simultaneously strengthened, with punitive action initiated against 120 chemists and druggists. Authorities suspended 118 licences and cancelled two others for alleged violations of drug regulations.
In addition, 668 driving licences and 13 vehicle registration certificates were suspended or cancelled, while confiscation proceedings were recommended against 124 passports linked to narcotics-related offences.
Beyond enforcement, the campaign has focused heavily on public awareness and rehabilitation. More than 16 lakh awareness programmes were conducted across Jammu and Kashmir, reaching over one crore people through schools, colleges, community outreach initiatives and public awareness drives.
Healthcare and rehabilitation services also recorded significant activity, with de-addiction centres catering to 58,603 patients. Hundreds of individuals underwent counselling and rehabilitation through facilities run by the Health Department, Police and Social Welfare Department.
Intelligence-led operations resulted in the identification of 3,045 suspected drug peddlers and smugglers, examination of 386 suspects, and enhanced surveillance of vulnerable locations across the Union Territory.
A senior police officer associated with anti-drug operations said the campaign is aimed at dismantling the entire ecosystem that sustains narcotics trafficking and narco-terrorism.
“The Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan is not merely about seizures and arrests. It is a sustained offensive against the entire narcotics network. Drug smuggling chains are being dismantled, financial channels are being disrupted, and those involved in poisoning society are being identified and neutralised through coordinated operations,” the officer said.
Officials said the campaign has also witnessed widespread public participation through anti-drug padyatras led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha across several districts.
They maintained that the ongoing drive has significantly weakened narcotics trafficking networks and disrupted channels allegedly used for terror financing, while asserting that operations against drug smugglers and their support structures will continue with full intensity in the months ahead.
