Anantnag, Nov 24: Police in Anantnag have arrested a man for alleged cheating, fraud, extortion, impersonation, and the use of a fake police identity card, officials said on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Aabid Hussain Sheikh, son of Mohd Hussain Sheikh, a resident of Donipawa, Anantnag. His arrest followed a complaint alleging his involvement in multiple fraudulent activities.
Police have registered FIR No. 249/2025 at the concerned police station.
According to officials, the case involves serious offences and is being thoroughly investigated. They said the arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing probe, and further questioning is expected to reveal additional details about the suspect’s actions.
Authorities urged the public to contact the nearest police station if they have been cheated or defrauded by the accused.
