Srinagar, June 3: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Wednesday carried out searches at eight locations across six districts of Jammu and Kashmir as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged Pakistan-sponsored terrorist networks, sleeper cells, radicalisation activities and terror recruitment modules.
According to official sources, the searches were conducted in connection with FIR No. 02/2015 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar under provisions of the Foreigners Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.
Sources said that based on intelligence inputs, technical evidence and sustained investigations, search operations were launched at eight locations in Srinagar (2), Bandipora (2), Kupwara (1), Anantnag (1), Kulgam (1) and Sopore in Baramulla district (1).
Investigators suspect that the individuals under scrutiny were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based terror handlers through encrypted communication platforms and may have been involved in spreading extremist propaganda, radicalisation efforts and facilitating terror-related activities.
The searches are aimed at recovering incriminating material, identifying terror linkages, facilitators and overground workers (OGWs), and gathering actionable intelligence to further advance the investigation and initiate legal action wherever required.
Officials said all legal formalities were completed before the searches, and warrants were obtained from the competent court. The operations are being conducted under established legal procedures with adequate security arrangements and technical support.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
