Srinagar, November 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday announced a significant breakthrough in the Red Fort area car bomb blast case with the arrest of a Kashmiri resident accused of conspiring with the suicide bomber responsible for the attack that claimed 10 lives and left around 25 people injured.
According to the agency, Amir Rashid Ali after whom the vehicle used in the attack was registered was apprehended in Delhi following an extensive search operation launched after the NIA took over the case from Delhi Police.
Investigations revealed that Amir, a resident of Samboora, Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, had conspired with the alleged suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, to execute the terror strike. Amir had reportedly traveled to Delhi to help facilitate the purchase of the car that was later turned into a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The NIA said it has forensically confirmed the identity of the deceased driver of the explosive-laden vehicle as Umar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Another vehicle belonging to Nabi has also been seized and is currently being examined for evidence.
So far, the NIA has examined 73 witnesses, including several injured in the November 10 blast that shook the national capital.
The agency, working in coordination with Delhi Police, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other partner agencies, continues to pursue multiple leads to uncover the wider conspiracy behind the bombing and identify additional suspects connected with case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
