Srinagar : 24 Dec 2025 : Authorities on Wednesday issued an avalanche warning for five districts of Jammu and Kashmir following recent moderate to heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the Union Territory.
According to officials, a low-danger avalanche warning has been sounded for the districts of Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban. Avalanches are likely to occur at elevations above 2,800 metres in these areas over the next 24 hours.
Residents, travellers and mountaineers have been advised to avoid avalanche-prone zones and strictly adhere to official advisories as a precautionary measure.
Most higher-altitude regions of Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed moderate to heavy snowfall over the past few days, increasing the risk of avalanches in vulnerable areas.
