Srinagar, Jan 16 : The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in connection with an alleged medical admission fraud case involving ₹13 lakh before a court in Baramulla, officials said.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 10/2024 has been submitted before the court of the Sub-Judge, Baramulla, under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused have been identified as Aquib Javeed and Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, both residents of Adarsh Nagar, Ring Road area of Kalaburagi district in Karnataka.
According to officials, the case was registered following a written complaint in which the complainant alleged that he was approached by Dr Shamsu-Din, an employee of Al-Amin Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka, who assured him of arranging an MBBS admission for his son through Aquib Javeed.Acting on the assurance, the complainant reportedly paid ₹13 lakh.
However, officials said that no admission was provided to the complainant’s son, nor was the money returned.Following the complaint, the EOW initiated an investigation, which revealed that Aquib Javeed, in alleged criminal conspiracy with his brother Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, cheated the complainant by falsely promising admission to KBN Medical College, Bijapur.The investigation established offences under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC, after which the chargesheet was filed in absentia by initiating proceedings under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), officials added.
