Jammu, Dec 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at a high-level meeting.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to eliminating tuberculosis, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for detailed analysis of TB cases and treatment outcomes, stronger inter-departmental coordination and a robust community-based support system to ensure no patient is left behind.
He directed the Health Department and district administrations to ramp up testing, map vulnerable populations and intensify door-to-door IEC campaigns to raise awareness about TB symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. District administrations were also asked to adopt best practices to achieve the goal of TB-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting reviewed district-wise data on TB case notification, treatment outcomes, drug-resistant TB cases, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, Ayushman Bharat coverage for TB patients and availability of treatment and testing equipment.
It was informed that J&K has achieved 99 per cent coverage of identified vulnerable populations.
Health and Medical Education Secretary Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah presented a detailed overview of the UT’s performance under the National TB Elimination Programme and shared the action taken on earlier directives.
