Eight cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir have been shortlisted for the IPL 2026 Player Auction, scheduled to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
The final list released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) includes Auqib Nabi, Nasir Muzaffar, Atif Mushtaq, Waseem Khanday, Vivrant Sharma, Abid Mushtaq, Qamran Iqbal, and Ashwin Murugan.Auqib Nabi, the 28-year-old pacer from Baramulla, has been one of J&K’s standout performers in domestic cricket.
Known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, Nabi has delivered consistently strong performances, including a remarkable 44-wicket Ranji Trophy season.
He also entered the record books as the first bowler in Duleep Trophy history to claim four wickets in four balls. His recent trial with the Mumbai Indians has further raised expectations ahead of the auction.
The BCCI’s final auction pool consists of 350 players, trimmed from nearly 1,390 initial registrations following franchise evaluations and performance-based scrutiny.
The list features 240 Indian players and 110 overseas cricketers, with 224 being uncapped Indian talents.
A total of 77 slots across 10 franchises will be up for grabs at the auction in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena. Among the shortlisted players, 40 have registered under the highest base price of ₹2 crore, while the largest group — 227 players — have opted for the ₹30 lakh bracket.
