PDP and BJP Deal Severe Blow to Omar Abdullah Govt as NC Loses Both Bypoll Seats.The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly bypoll results on Friday proved to be a major setback for the Omar Abdullah led government, with the National Conference (NC) losing both crucial constituencies Nagrota and Budgam despite an intensive, high-profile campaign.In Nagrota, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scored a decisive win. Devyani Rana secured 42,183 votes, defeating DPAP chief Harsh Dev Singh, who managed 17,661. NC’s Shamim Begum trailed with 10,834 votes, underscoring the ruling party’s weakening influence.Meanwhile, in Budgam long considered an NC stronghold—the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came out on top. PDP’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi defeated NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood by more than 4,478 votes after a tightly contested race featuring 17 candidates.
