Srinagar, Nov 13: The death of a one-year-old boy at SKIMS Soura has triggered public anger after his parents alleged medical negligence and apathy by hospital staff.
The child’s mother, Sumaira, said doctors at Noora Hospital and later at SKIMS Emergency failed to examine or treat her son properly despite repeated pleas. The boy was shifted to the NICU in critical condition and died the next morning.
Following her viral post, the SKIMS administration said an inquiry committee was formed on October 18 and the involved doctors were attached as an interim measure. The probe, now in its final stage, aims to ensure a fair and transparent outcome.
Officials assured strict action if negligence is proven, while the incident has renewed debate over patient care standards in Kashmir’s hospitals.
