Srinagar, Nov 17: Police on Monday said that a woman wanted in several criminal cases registered across Srinagar and multiple other police stations in the Kashmir Valley has been arrested.
According to officials, Police Station Lal Bazar apprehended the woman, identified as Asmat Jan alias Taboo, who is an accused in multiple FIRs filed in Khrew Awantipora, Pulwama, Sopore, Chadoora, and Budgam. A fresh case, FIR No. 42/2025 under relevant sections of the BNS, is also registered against her at Lal Bazar Police Station. Police said she had been absconding for an extended period.
Police sources said credible inputs were received on Friday indicating that she was hiding at Hotel White House in Jalandhar, Punjab. Acting on the information, a team from Lal Bazar Police Station rushed to the location and apprehended her.
The accused has been brought back to Srinagar on a two-day transit remand, officials added.
