Lieutenant Governor addresses 11th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University

Srinagar Nov 16: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday ruled out any terror conspiracy in Friday night’s blast at Nowgam police station and announced a magisterial inquiry into the matter. The Nowgam police station incident was only an unfortunate accident and there was no terror conspiracy or outside interference behind it,” Sinha said while addressing a ‘Nagar Kirtan’ organised to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur at a gurdwara in Jammu.“As a magisterial inquiry is mandatory in such incidents, I have ordered one into it in accordance with the law,” he said.Nine people were killed and 32 were injured in the blast inside Nowgam police station on Friday night. According to officials, the blast took place while authorities were taking samples of the explosives-making material seized during the operation into a terror module that has been linked to the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10.The L-G said that the sampling process had been going on at the police station for the past two days. He lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Police for dismantling the pan-Indian “white collar” terror module and thwarting many terrorist incidents in the country. At the event, Sinha paid tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur, saying that the revered Sikh Gurus ensured India’s glory through significant contributions and selfless sacrifices. “Despite centuries of external invasions and economic drain, India still stands with full strength and pride,” he said, urging people to “stand firm in our determination to build a new India of our dreams”.
